Symbol: bird and plant

The Siberian corydalis or Great-flowered Fumewort (Corydalis nobilis) Corydalis nobilis

Originally the great-flowered fumewort was planted in the park of the Vanhakartano estate as an ornamental plant. Now it grows wild and has spread to the groves of Kirkkosaari Island, and in places, forms impressive blossoms. The plant is an important part of Köyliö’s Vanhakartano estate’s history, and the estate, for its part, is an essential part of Köyliö’s history.

The Osprey or Bald buzzard (Pandion haliaetus)

In Köyliö the osprey is a fairly visible and common bird, as a few pairs living in the surrounding area fish for their food in Lake Köyliönjärvi. The osprey is the bird chosen to be Lake Köyliönjärvi’s protective society’s symbol. The fish farm reservoirs also naturally attract the ospreys. The osprey, an impressive bird that is recognized even by ordinary people, lives around the mires and lakes in the Satakunta region.
